We had an eventful weekend at Coachella, gems, meeting new friends and doing a few photoshoots in between seeing some of our favorite bands and musicians. I for one was stoked to see Queens of the Stone Age, and even got a new t-shirt — superfan! Music is the lifeblood of our brand, there’s always new music playing in our offices, and we love seeing and supporting live music. But, more on Coachella later.
Wanted to point you towards a new interview I did recently, where I spoke to Trendboard NYC about the design process, our designer inspirations and the way we moved from doing high end custom clothing into ready to wear. I also let London in on a few of my favorite pieces from Spring and told him some of our hilarious stories from the early days — let’s just say we used beets to dye some custom pieces!
Most people in the fashion industry don’t fully understand how hard it is to take a custom design concept and move it into a ready-to-wear line. When you come from doing custom clothes you’re getting to do whatever you want as a designer and working virtually without limits. With a ready-to-wear line you are taking high-concept designs and bringing them to every day life being mindful of quality, price points and which styles translate best. Thankfully we were able to make the transition smoothly. Having 10 years experience in the fashion industry and a background in manufacturing certainly made a huge difference to our success.
