The city is buzzing with Fashion and we are thrilled to be a part of it. Nikki Rich will be presenting our Fall 2013 Collection on March 9 at Concept / Los Angeles / Siren Studios at 4:30 PM as a part of LA Fashion Week. We are so excited and hope to see you on the red carpet…
As you all know, The Academy Awards show is no joke! The city of Los Angeles buzzes with excitement and glamour, and an already uber glamorous town still finds a way to turn it up another notch. While we thought all of the celebrities were dressed to kill, we really loved a lot of the form fitting, slinky, sheer but darker dresses that were adorned beautifully with crystals, studs and sequins. They were all so full of the shimmer that we love so much. In particular, we thought Stacy Keibler, Nicole Kidman, Halle Berry, and Sandra Bullock stood out in what was an already fabulous crowd.
If you live in Hollywood you know that the fun really begins with the after parties. Well, we felt like we had won our own Oscar when we saw E’s Catt Sadler’s Tumblr page and the photos she posted of herself in custom Nikki Rich. She was heading to the coveted Governor’s Ball and we love the look and feel of the photographs she posted before she made her arrival.
The dress was carefully crafted from pleather and spandex with a head-turning flower pattern burn-out design. It has a super sexy silhouette with a plunging v in the back that fit Catt like a glove. We thought that was a very good thing when we saw her interviewing George Clooney. Oh la la!
While the weather has been whacky here lately in sunny southern California we have been watching the national news and know that most of the country is currently in a very deep freeze. My bestie on the East coast won’t stop complaining about the frigid conditions in her state so I thought I would try to put a little pep back in her step by sending a bit of warm karma her way (and yours too!) We have been in the studio all morning with Benjamin James, our amazing photographer, and Ashley Novak, our effervescent model, shooting our Summer 2013 Capsule. While we anticipate the ecommerce site to be up within just a couple of weeks (yes, I am serious), and most of the Fall 12 Collection will be available, we wanted everyone to have a taste of what is inevitably coming your way for warmer weather. Don’t you miss shorts? We hope you love the detail of ours! Please wrap yourself in the warmth of what Nikki Rich is all about. We can’t wait to reveal it all to you!
Some people just deserve a little praise. Well, maybe a lot of praise. It’s so easy to get caught up in the beautiful moments of Nikki Rich…and Richie and I are so devoted to this company, but that man deserves so much more than just our appreciation. While we are having the time of our lives watching the Nikki Rich brand grow (our e-commerce store and “The Cools” is on its way!) and plotting what is going to be an amazing course for Crome (our menswear line), I don’t ever want to overlook the fact that while I am in Los Angeles making the day-to-day operation of our dreams come true, Richie is wearing so many hats and touching so many lives around the globe. The last year has been so full for him, and he gives each and every endeavor his all. From Hurricane Sandy and helping people hit by that devastating tragedy, to gearing up for a World Tour with Bon Jovi, we can’t loose sight of the fact that Richie has passion that is unparalleled. He stays so true to who he is and that fact is overtly evident with every note of his latest solo effort Aftermath of the Lowdown. Please join us as we take a little time to give back to the man who gives so much. Won’t you please let us know, on our official Nikki Rich facebook page, what your favorite track on his album is and why? And if you haven’t already, please “like” our page as well. As a warm thank you will we randomly select an entry to win a signed (by him, not me silly) Aftermath of the Lowdown CD. How can it get any better than that?
So sorry for not posting for a few days, but we have been incredibly busy (and grateful) at Nikki Rich, preparing for our show for fashion buyers that kicked off last night at Circle 5 in Los Angeles. Showcasing our Summer Capsule has been a labor of MAJOR love, as it has taken months to prepare every last piece…and the last few days to add the finishing touches to perfection. Pictures to follow, I promise. Equally as exciting is the fact the Bon Jovi world tour begins next month at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT and Richie and I have been designing all of his clothing for it. He always has the most amazing ideas and you are going to love what we are doing! As a matter of fact, the Crome line will be featured at Film Fashion, our PR showroom, for the first time this week. Like I said…busy and grateful! If all that were not enough, we would love to share a little bit of eye candy from RAW Magazine with you. Take a look at this ravishing redhead wearing the Paradise jacket from our Fall Collection. We love that it was shot outdoors. The natural light really highlights every special thing about this exciting print. We love how feminine the cut is with a flat collar and belted silhouette, and how it’s naturally offset by the strong geometric shapes found in the pattern. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that our Fashion Blogging contest has come to an end and we will be posting highlights and a winner soon! So happy to reconnect…gotta get back to work!

There are so many reasons why I love Los Angeles, and the celebration of personal style looms large. Between my long hours spent at the design studio I am out and about and all over the city searching for and finding inspiration everywhere. I don’t necessarily take all of the inspiration to put back in my designs, but I do have respect for it and love to let it resonate. Another place I find treasure troves of personal style is on the Internet. There are so many amazing blogs that highlight and celebrate personal style, and I wanted to share two New York based blogs with you here. Perhaps you’ve heard about The Satorialist. A photographer names Scott Schuman began the Satorialist “with the idea of creating a two-way dialogue about fashion and it’s relationship to daily life.” Man, does he ever. Schuman travels the world taking candid shots of real people on the streets of their city (New York, Milan, London, etc.) and gives his followers the opportunity to discuss all that they see with one another. The images are fantastic and the fashion is interesting and often be mesmerizing. Another blog I love is The Glamourai. A gorgeous gal named Kelly Framel started the blog in 2008…for fun. Now she runs it as a well-known brand. She must be having the time of her life dressing up for the images you see as she showcases the things she loves all wrapped up in her personal style. With the New Year approaching I am so looking forward to 2013 and another year of fashion. Do you have any blogs you love and want to tell us about? Can you tell us more about your personal style? We wish you all a Happy, Healthy and Stylish New Year! (Talking about personal style…I love my slashed leather skinnies!)
Richie Sambora rocked the Ford Theater in LA on Tuesday night to support his album Aftermath Of The Lowdown. When a friend asked me today, “How was the show?” I told her that it was not just a “show,” it was a spectacular evening and an amazing experience..on so many levels. Richie is such a caring person and in response to the hurricane devastation left in his home state of New Jersey he decided to donate all of the profits from the show to the American Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Fund. He also added to amazing VIP packages to raise even more. Breathtaking in a Crome black leather conductor jacket Richie, as always, left it all on the stage, for Los Angeles, for New Jersey, for his fans.
I know without a doubt, that each and every person reading this right now has one piece of clothing that they know they’ll never stop reaching for. Maybe it’s a pair of your hottest blue jeans or the softest cashmere sweater you own…maybe it’s an old t-shirt that has been washed and worn so much it feels like it’s a part of you. Last night I was walking out the door to join some friends for dinner when I felt a crisp chill in the Los Angeles air. Without even thinking I reached into my closet and pulled out my Steel Fire blazer. Crafted from a soft stretch Ponte fabric it’s easily my go-to piece. Richie and I love working with Ponte. It is a tightly woven knit that feels super smooth under your hand, and while we designed it for Fall, Ponte is truly a seasonless, versatile fabric to work with. The Steel Fire blazer was designed with a faux crocodile insert which makes it look sexy with jeans and stylish with dress trousers. Honestly, it is one of those pieces I will never stop reaching for. On our website we show it with our Wild Dove pant – also made from a Ponte knit with faux crocodile insert. The sexy but super comfortable skinny leg design make them look good with anything you might think to pair them with.
We are so excited to have our Butterfly jacket featured in the pages of the Fall Fashion Issue of Beverly Hills Lifestyle magazine. The Butterfly jacket is a custom piece that Alanis Morisette wore on the cover of the August 28th Calendar section of Los Angeles Times. Immediately upon being returned to our showroom, my dear friend and stylist to the stars, Toni Ferrara (clients include…Kim Kardashian, Scarlett Johanssen, Giuliana Rancic, Matthew McConneaghey, Kate Beckinsale, and countless others), scooped it up for the Beverly Hills Lifestyle magazine editorial. The jacket was fashioned from the softest gray and cream colored perforated leather and is lined with a metallic copper fabric that subtlety shows through the perforations. It catches the light and will take your breath away when you see it glisten…like butterfly wings when you catch one floating past you. Finished with a button closure and softened with a bit of ruffle along the waist, it is the high shoulders that give this lovely piece an immediate confidence to truly command attention.
